| Nancy-Ann Min DeParle, (Knoxville ’78) is the former administrator of the Federal Health Care Financing Administration. She was the university’s first woman Rhodes Scholar and the first woman president of the Student Government Association at Knoxville. She was Tennessee commissioner of human services from 1987 to 1989. Matthew G. Smith was an attorney and bankruptcy judge in Fort Worth, Texas. (deceased) Arthur Preston Whitaker was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania from 1936 to 1965. He published 20 books and numerous articles. (deceased)
