This pedestrian crosswalk has bridged Cumberland Avenue since 1966, connecting UT residence hall areas on either side of the busy campus thoroughfare. Ever since there's been a UT, Cumberland Avenue has carried traffic through it. We look at a bit of the history of the road and particularly of its campus segment, known to generations of students as "The Strip."
