Miles: Best of '96

Paul Miles, 1996 Volunteer of the Year, and his wife, Marion, show off Miles' award for service to the University.

UTK's 1996 Volunteer of the Year is Paul Miles of Knoxville. The award recognizes service to the University and the community.

Miles is an estate planner at American Express Financial Advisors and was inducted into the company's hall of fame in 1987. For 27 years he was the region's top adviser.

Miles is chairman of the University Libraries' 21st Century Campaign, which has exceeded its $5 million goal. He also is a member of the Chancellor's Associates.

Miles and his wife, Marion, have created trusts to provide funds for library acquisitions. They also established an employee reward program for the library.
