Interested In Prepaid Tuition?
If you're interested in Tennessee's prepaid college tuition plan mentioned in the last issue of Torchbearer (November 1996, page one, "UTK: A Best Buy with Below Average Fees"), you can get more information from the Tennessee state treasurer's office in Nashville, telephone (615) 532-8056. The treasurer's office will administer the plan, which allows parents or others to purchase tuition credits good toward children's college education at UT or other Tennessee schools. Money goes into a special state fund. Taxes are deferred until the student uses the credits.
