Clayton Receives Volunteer Award


Knoxville business and civic leader James L. "Jim" Clayton is the UTK Volunteer of the Year.

The founder, chairman, and chief executive of Clayton Homes established the Clayton Homes Chair of Excellence in Finance in 1988 with a matching gift. Last year he established a $250,000 fund to provide finance students real-world experience in managing a stock portfolio.

Clayton is co-chair of the College of Business Ad-ministration's part of the 21st Century Campaign and also is a member of the UT Development Council.
The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes service to the university and the community. Clayton has given more than $3 million to the Knoxville Museum of Art. The Clayton Family Foundation was established in 1992 to support the arts, education, community development, and human services.

Clayton earned engineering and law degrees at UTK.
