Up to his Ears In VolunteersKnoxville attorney Joseph Yancey ('50 '54) thought he bought a few boxes of UTK yearbooks at a recent university surplus property auction. When he claimed them, he discovered he was getting far more than he bargained for. "I picked up five boxes, and they said, 'What are you going to do with these others sitting back here?'" Those "others" turned out to be 50 more cases of yearbooks. So, "as a result of scratching my ear at the auction, I now have several UT Volunteer annuals," he says. After he loaded all 1,200 annuals, Yancey says, his Ford van couldn't pull the hill to leave the auction. Needless to say, Yancey wants to sell the books, which date from 1928 to 1979, for $10 each, plus shipping. Call him at (423) 577-1776 or write him at 700 Sevier Ave.; Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. He has the following years: 1928, 1930, 1932, 1934, 1936, 1948, 1950-1952, 1954-1961, 1964-1966, 1970-1971, 1976-1979. Return to Spring 1998 table of contents. |
