UTK Programs Rank Among U.S. Leaders

UTK has reaped honors in more national rankings.

  • U.S. News and World Report ranked three UTK graduate programs in the top 50 in their respective categories--advertising, eighth; business, 47th; and law, 47th. Rankings are based on faculty resources, research activity, test scores, and reputation.

  • The American College of Trial Lawyers ranked the law college No. 1 in the nation in 1996 for the way in which it trains trial attorneys. Past winners of the ACTL's annual Emil Gumpert Award for Excellence in Teaching Trial Advocacy include Harvard, Yale, New York University, and UCLA.

  • The textiles and clothing program in the College of Human Ecology is ranked No. 1 in the U.S. by the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal. The journal assessed 183 programs on the number and quality of faculty, students, publications, and other criteria. Cornell and Ohio State ranked second and third. The UTK College of Human Ecology has the world's only on-campus non-woven textile processing laboratory with melt-blown and spun-bond lines.
