Alumni: Check Career Services

Alumni now can add UTK Career Services to their job-hunting arsenal. Not only will Career Services forward alumni resumes to employers who list vacancies, but the office also offers a wealth of career-oriented information at its Internet site. Job hunters have a variety of services from which to choose, including:

  • Employment listings. The JobTrak Internet Network is a national database that lists full-time professional and educational opportunities, as well as part-time, summer, and intern positions. Search by type of work, geographic location, key word, company name, or date. Many job listings, both local and national, can also be accessed at Career Services' new Job Hotline. This service, partially funded by the UT National Alumni Association, is available toll-free at 1-888-JOBS UTK (562-7885).

  • Workshops. Alumni may attend UT career workshops free of charge. Topics include using the World Wide Web for a job search, professional etiquette, interview skills, and resume writing.

  • Career assessment tests. Job hunters may choose from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or the Strong Interest Inventory tests for a $30 fee.

  • Links. World Wide Web surfers will find lots of career-oriented links, from career planning to company websites to international job opportunities.

  • Employer information. Alumni employers also can get into the act by accessing student resumes, a recruiter guide, and information on UT's 1998 Career Carnival.
