Bequests, Grants Aid UT Programs


Gifts help the University offer the very best education, research, and service. Some recent generous gifts include:

A bequest of nearly $1 million for McClung Museum from the late Aletha Brodine ('45) of Knoxville. The gift will establish the Aletha and Clayton Brodine Endowment to support exhibits and programs about the cultural history of Asia, Europe, and the Mediterranean.
A $1 million bequest from Samuel D. Mount to the UT Medical Center Graduate School of Medicine at Knoxville. Mount, a dentist in Maryville, Tenn., gave the Medical Center and UT Memphis a total of $2 million for research on AIDS and Alzheimer's disease.
A $150,000 grant from the Lucille Thompson Family Foundation to establish the Lucille S. Thompson Alzheimer's Education and Research Fund at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
A grant of $56,000 to continue research at McClung Museum on centuries-old maize seeds. The award is from the Raymond F. and Mark Baker Endowment through the Iowa State University Foundation.
