Dancing In D.C.
UTK dance instructor Melinda Brown and nine dance students appeared in the National College Dance Festival Gala Performance, a biennial event held in May at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. They performed "My Ascension," a piece choreographed by Brown. The UTK dancers won the right to appear in the national gala with their performance in a Southeastern competition in Montgomery, Ala. A panel of nationally recognized judges viewed 30 works choreographed by both faculty and students from 19 colleges and universities in the Southeast.
