Torchbearer: Summer 1998

Teachers: Space Available

UTK is giving K-12 teachers some space.

A new, on-campus center supplies teachers throughout Tennessee with audio, video, computer software, and other learning materials about space science, astronomy, and planetary exploration.

The Teachers Resource Distribution Center has materials from NASA and other sources that teachers can copy and use in their classes. The center also offers access to Internet connections, UTK faculty expertise, study guides, and other teaching materials.

Faculty involved with the center include Drs. Hap McSween and Larry Taylor, geology professors who have worked with NASA explorations of other planets, and physics faculty members Dr. Bill Blass and Tina Riedinger.

The center, headed by Paul Lewis, is in the Nielsen Physics Building. More information is available at the UTK Planetary Geosciences Institute website at http://web.utk.edu/~pgi/or the physics and astronomy site at www.phys.utk.edu. Lewis can be reached by telephone at (423) 974-7815.
