Pregame Place To BePregame Showcase, the brief and informative lectures offered by the College of Arts and Sciences before home football games, announces its 1998 lineup. Sept. 19 (Florida) Tourism, Gambling, and the Modern American Identity, Dr. John Finger, professor and head of history. Sept. 26 (Houston) Bats Aloft: Agricultural and Economic Impact, Dr. Gary McCracken, professor, ecology and evolutionary biology. Oct. 24 (Alabama) The Global Positioning System: Explanation and Demonstration, Dr. Ken Orvis, assistant professor, geography. Nov. 7 (Alabama-Birmingham) Reconstructing Faces on Victims of Crime: Forensic Anthropology at UTK, Dr. Murray Marks, assistant professor, anthropology. Nov. 14 (Arkansas) Politics and Religion in the U.S., Dr. Patricia Freeland, professor and head, political science. Nov. 21 (Kentucky) How to Get Heat without Fire: A Reading of Poems for the Holidays, Dr. Marilyn Kallet, professor of English and director of creative writing. The lectures begin two hours before kickoff in room 235 of the University Center (Shiloh Room), except for the first lecture, which will be in rooms 225-227. Bring a sandwich; drinks and dessert will be provided.
