Roddy Gifts Top $3 MillionDirectors of the Fred M. Roddy Foundation made their traditional visit to campus last fall and gave another $50,000 for scholarships. Some 4,000 Roddy Scholars at UTK have received more than $3 million worth of scholarships since the University received the late Fred M. Roddy's $500,000 bequest in 1969. Roddy ('27), the founder of Cumberland Engineering Co., invented material for handling plastics. The Roddy Foundation is headquartered in Attleboro, Mass. Total gifts to UT from Roddy and the foundation exceed $3 million. Return to Winter 1996 table of contents. |
