Steinfeld Honored

Manfred Steinfeld, founder of Shelby Williams Corp., is the Volunteer of the Year.

The annual award recognizes individuals who give "untiring service and devotion to the university and the larger community."

Steinfeld has supported the University's Judiac studies program and created the Shelby Williams Scholarship Endowment in the College of Human Ecology. He is a member of the UT Development Council and the College of Human Ecology's board of advisors.

Shelby Williams, a manufacturer of institutional seating, is headquartered in Morristown, Tenn. Williams and his wife, Fern, live in Chicago. The Judaic studies program has been named for the couple.
