Mating and Breeding Fish in Captivity

In order to get fish to reproduce in captivity, the scientists must simulate the fishes' natural breeding environment. For example, spotfin chub females in the wild deposit their eggs in narrow cracks or underneath flat rocks. The photo aboves shows how the scientists at Conservations Fisheries, Inc. have stacked slate tiles. The spotfin chubs in the fishery lay their eggs in the narrow space between the tiles.
