Kim Widner, UT Knoxville zoology student
Q: When and how did you get interested in zoology?
A: Like most kids, I was always interested in animals. I got to be around them a lot--I grew up on a farm in Claiborne County, Tennessee. My uncles had farms, too, and I really liked the cows.
Q: What types of courses are you taking to prepare you for a career in zoology?
A: Right now, I'm finishing my college degree in zoology. Mostly I've taken the required classes for that degree, such as biology and chemistry and math. I took statistics because I need that to calculate data from my project. After I finish college, I plan to take a year off to work on my research. Then I will go on to graduate school.
